We perceive this elegant vintage shiraz as a Rhone style wine. It displays a bright, red cherry bouquet mingled with spicey medium/fine grain new French oak. The palate presents the characteristic minerality overlaid with clean cherry/blackberry flavours. Soft tannins complete a lingering finish.

Alc/vol 12.7% Closure: Reference 1, hand-select, traditional vintage cork.

Establised in 1972 with the first vintage in 1975, Old Kingower Vineyard (formerly known as Blanche Barkly Wines)  has been an everlasting feature of the Victorian wine revival. Arleen and David Reimers have been responsible for 45 consecutive vintages and have learnt a thing or two about the highly mineralized soils and dryland climate of the central northern goldfields.

Small quantities of low yield cabernet, shiraz, cabernet franc and refosco are all estate grown, vintaged, bottled and aged in the wonderful stone cellars built by David and Arleen. Those oenophiles shrewd enough to have acquired the 1984, 1992, 2001, 2002 or 2004 vintage cabernets and shiraz would be sipping ambrosia by now, especially in the lockdown! There are also wines tailored to drink now, or in the immediate future. The perfect antidote to a crazy world.
